Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. This has a very fresh, tightly bound and near-austere nose with classical herbaceous Awatere aromas of gooseberries, nettles, fresh herbs, tomato-leaf and wet-stone minerals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, light gooseberry fruit and nettle flavours form a fine-textured core and are enlivened by fresh and brisk acidity. The mouthfeel is racy and slippery, with excellent cut. The fruit has clarity and flows with tension and energy to a crisp, mouthwatering, pure finish with lingering minerally notes. This is a crisp and light Awatere Sauvignon Blanc with fruit clarity and a thirst-quenching mouthfeel. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables, and goats cheese over the next 2 years.
