Very dark, deep, purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is gently full with aromatic black and dark red berry fruits, along with black pepper, violet florals and subtle complex reductive mineral notes and iron-earth elements. The aromatics grow in depth and density in the glass. Medium-bodied, rich and luscious fruit flavours of blackberries, black pepper and spices are lifted by violet florals. The mouthfeel is fine in texture with supple, gentle tannin extraction. Elevated acidity brightens the palate, lending some raciness to the flow. The tannins become prominent as the fruit recedes on the finish, leaving fine, dry textures. This is an attractively supple, black-fruited and aromatic Syrah with a fresh mouthfeel. Match with roasted and grilled red meats and Middle Eastern fare over the next 5 years.
