Rochfort Rees Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Mar-2013
Dark, moderately deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on rim, and youthful in appearance. This has a fresh, elegantly proportioned bouquet with bright and vibrant violet floral perfumes, dark cherry and berry aromas with subtle notes of thyme herbs and .spices. Medium-bodied, light flavours of dark cherry and berry fruit are intermixed with florals and spices, and encased by fine-grained tannins which result in a soft, dry, textural mouthfeel and palate line. The acidity is restrained, enhancing the mellow expression, and the flavours carry through to a light, grainy finish. This is an attractively perfumed, soft-fruited Pinot Noir with a gentle, dry mouthfeel. Serve with pastas, risotto and roasted poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the Gibbston and Lake Hayes districts, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in oak. 16.5/20 Mar 2013 RRP $29.95
