Riverview Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2010

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Jun-2015
Very dark, deep, black-hued garnet-red colour with some bricking on edge. The bouquet is full and seamlessly integrated with aromas of blackcurrant fruit, mint and savoury herbs melded with milk chocolate and layers of cedary oak. The fruit is in the cooler spectrum, but merged smoothly with dried herb secondary development. Medium-full bodied, the palate is plush and softly integrated with blackcurrant, herb and stalk-nuanced fruit, and spicy, cedary oak at the core. The palate is rounded and smooth-flowing, with fine grained underlying tannins and soft acidity in support. The fruit sweetness prevails and the wine carries to a very long, lingering finish with herb, spice and cedary elements and good acid liveliness. This is a seamlessly entwined Cabernet and Merlot blend with curranty and cedary flavours and developed secondary notes in a traditional style. Match with herb marinated roasted beef and lamb dishes over the next 5 years. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in oak barriques. 17.5-/20 Jun 2015 RRP $29.99
