Riverby Estate Marlborough Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 06-Apr-2015
Even ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is soft and gentle with ethereal savoury red berry fruit aromas lifted by white pepper and piquant fresh herbal elements. Some savoury game suggestions emerge in the glass. Medium-light bodied and elegant in presentation, the fruit is straightforward with red berry fruit and white pepper flavours, intermixed with herb notes. The wine is modest in extraction, the light tannins combining with the fresh acidity to lend an accessible, lively mouthfeel and light structure. The wine flows with good linearity to a juicy finish with herbal nuances. This is a light, accessible and uncomplicated cool-spectrum Syrah with red fruits and white pepper flavours. Serve with antipasto and tapas over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from 23 y.o. vines from the ‘Riverby’ vineyard, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in predominantly seasoned oak. 90 cases made. 16.0-/20 Apr 2015 RRP $27.00
