Riverby Estate Marlborough Noble Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon 2011

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 20-Feb-2013
Deep golden-yellow colour with orange hues at the heart. The bouquet is full, voluminous and decadently concentrated with rich aromas of oranges and marmalade, intermixed with layers of talc botrytis, crystallised fruits, caramel and honey, lifted by a little volatility, all in harmony and in style. Very sweet and opulent, intensely packed and seamlessly melded flavours of orange marmalade, dried exotic tropical fruits, musky botrytis, honey and caramel fill the mouth. Beautiful, lacy acidity underlines the flavours providing freshness, cut and tension that drives the palate. This is extremely luscious, but very smooth and harmonious, the sweetness and flavours coating the mouth with an unctuous flow. The finish is rich, sensuous and nectar-like, with very long, lingering orange peel and caramel nuances. This is a decadently rich and seamless fully-botrytised dessert wine with waves of flavour. Match with crème brulee and steamed puddings, or serve instead of a liqueur. This will keep 5-6 years and become more intense in toffee-like characters. A blend of 55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Semillon, fully botrytised and fermented in stainless-steel to 9.4% alc. and 254 g/L rs. (375 ml) 19.5/20 Feb 2013 RRP $35.00
