Riverby Estate Marlborough Dry Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Jun-2013
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. The nose is very delicate and soft, very finely presented with purity. The aromas gently bloom to show citrus blossom, white florals, minerals with a touch of minerals. Dry to taste and tightly bound, the delicate fruit flavours form a fine core with excellent drive and line. The mouthfeel is soft with tight, fine-grained textures, near austere and bitter with its concentration. The phenolics are extremely fine with the acidity in the background. This has delicacy and detail, and the flavours and textures are carried to a very dry, soft white floral finish that is sustained and lingering. This is a beautifully refined and delicate dry Riesling which is still very tight. Serve as an aperitif or with subtle seafood over the next 6-8+ years. Hand-picked fruit from 22 y.o. vines with no botrytis, fermented to 10.7% alc. and 3.3 g/L rs, TA 7.7 g/L and pH 3.13. 18.5/20 Jun 2013 RRP $20.00 (Not yet released)
