Riverby Estate Marlborough Dry Riesling 2007

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Jun-2013
Hand-picked fruit from 17 y.o. vines with no botrytis, fermented to 12.5% alc. and 3 g/L rs, and TA 7.1 g/L. Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hints, lighter on rim. The bouquet is elegant and fine in expression, gently building in volume, showing a subtly interwoven array of aromas, with lemon and minerals, honeysuckle and toast, all with balance and harmony. Dry to taste, this has delicate waves of flavour, with honey and toast emerging from the citrus and minerals. The palate has a softly concentrated core and some lusciousness. There is underlying power and drive, the alcohol and rounded acidity adding a degree of richness. The flavours quietly fill the mouth and lead to a soft, long and lingering finish with a range of detailed nuances. This dry Riesling has developed a harmonious array of flavours with real interest. Serve as an aperitif wine over the next 3-4 years. 18.5/20 Jun 2013 RRP $20.00
