Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is tightly concentrated with intense aromas of cooler spectrum nettle and gooseberry fruit along with some pungent passionfruit, lifted by white florals and minerally elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is taut and slender with cool, gooseberry and nettle flavours. The mouthfeel is racy and dry, near austere, with chalky textures balancing the sweet fruitiness. The phenolics are well-managed and the wine carries easily to a tight, dry, linear finish. Aromatic on the nose, this is a taut and slender Sauvignon Blanc with chalky, dry textures and crisp acidity. Serve with seafood, salads and goats cheese over the next 2 years. Fruit 50% from the ‘O’Dwyers Farm’ vineyard, Rapaura and 50% from the ‘Long Lane’ vineyard in the Awatere, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and dryness, the wine aged on lees. 17.0/20 Dec 2014 RRP $20.00
