Richmond Plains Nelson Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 07-Oct-2012
Very pale straw colour with slight green hues. This has a very fine and elegant nose with attractively lifted floral and lime fruit notes, now showing some hints of toastiness. Off-dry to taste, this is very gentle and delicate in expression, quite refined and tightly bound. Steel and floral nuances are a feature. The wine finishes with long, delicate, minerally flavours and a fine textured thread. WBP and cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 7.5 g/L rs. Certified organic. 18.0+/20 Oct 2012 Hand-picked, WBP fruit, 50% from 20 y.o. vines from the ‘Te Mania Home Block' and 50% from ‘Burkes Bank' in Hope, fermented to 12.0% alc. and 7.5 g/L rs. Fully Organic and suitable for vegans. Bright straw-yellow colour with a very pale rim. This has a very attractive bouquet of lime and citrus zest along with exotic florals, quite full and up-front in expression. Dry to taste, the fruit flavours of limes and zest are a little shy, but the palate has good body and weight forming concentration and drive. Crisp racy acidity and mineral notes are carried through to a long, soft finish, with apple and floral nuances show. An approachable,fruit-driven Riesling with good presence. Serve as an aperitif and with delicate seafood dishes over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Dec 2011 RRP $19.99
