Richmond Plains Nelson Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 10-Jan-2014
A single vineyard wine, fruit from clones 115, 5, 10/5 and 777 from 23 y.o. vines, hand-picked on Fruit/Seed days, indigenous yeast fermented to 12.7% alc., the wine spending 16 days on skins and aged 11 months in 15% new oak. Fullish, light ruby-red colour with some depth and with garnet hues on rim. This has a softly voluminous nose of light, soft red berry fruits with subtle herbal and undergrowth detail that builds in depth and intensity. Light to medium bodied, gently sweet strawberry fruit flavours and savoury bramble and herb notes are harmoniously entwined. The palate features a soft core and the mouthfeel is supple from light and fine-grained tannin extraction. Fresh, lacy acidity provides vitality, carrying the flavours smoothly to a lingering finish of strawberries and herbs. This is a light and soft Pinot Noir with savoury red fruit flavours and a fresh mouthfeel. Vegan wine, certified BioGro organic and Demeter biodynamic. Serve with salmon, tuna and Mediterranean fare over the next 3-4 years. 16.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $26.00
