Richmond Plains Nelson Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 01-Dec-2011
Bright straw-yellow colour with the faintest blush and golden hue, pale on rim. The bouquet is a little shy and light, with moderately concentrated aromas of pears and stonefruits, along with nuances of honey, smoke and flinty lees work. Dry to taste, this has firm flavours of white stonefruits, savoury honey and minerals on a weighty palate. There is some warmth and richness adding to the presence, but this is balanced by good acidity. The finish is soft and gentle. Fruit from two Certified Organic sites on the Waimea Plains, one vineyard Certified Biodynamic, 34% wild yeast fermented to 14.0% alc. and 8 g/L rs, lees stirred for 5 months. A weighty wine with savoury and flinty notes to drink with antipasto ad Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. 16.5/20 Dec 2011 RRP $19.99
