Richmond Plains Nelson Blanc de Noir 2012

Rose from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 18-Apr-2013
100% Pinot Noir, hand-picked on a Flower days on the biodynamic calendar, and also on winemaker Steve Gill’s birthday! WBP fermented in stainless-steel to 13.1% alc. and 9.5 g/L rs, the wine spending 3 months on lees. Certified BioGro Organic, suitable for vegans. Bright, faded blush on straw-yellow colour. This has a softly fresh, matty nose of yellow stonefruit aromas with subtle hints of red berry fruit, watermelon and flinty lees, a good core becoming revealed in the glass. Off-dry to taste, bright but delicate flavours of red florals and soft red berry fruits are presented with a degree of sweetness and succulence. The mouthfeel suggest unctuousness, but is balanced and cut by crisp and racy acidity. A very fine textural line is present, and along with the underlying acidity, guides the palate to a dry, lingering finish with floral nuances. This is an off-dry blush style with subtly sweet flavours and a racy mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and in al fresco dining situations over the next two years. 17.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $19.99
