Ricatto Chianti Classico DOCG 2015

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 25-Aug-2017
Even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim with slight purple tints. The nose is softly full with up-front, bright and vibrant aromas of dark raspberries and cherries with notes of dark herbs, lifted by whole berry fermentation confectionary and floral elements. A little sour cherry and nutty detail unfolds with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate has a concentrated and rounded core of rich, juicy and luscious dark raspberry and cherry fruit, along with lifted florals and whole berry fermentation confectionary notes. The fruit is underlined by light, fine-grained tannin extraction, with fresh, lacy acidity lending energy and linearity. The wine leads to a fresh, aromatic, lingering finish. This is an up-front, juicy and aromatic Chianti with bright raspberry and cherry fruit, lifted floral and confectionary notes on a fine-textured palate. Serve with antipasto, tapas, lamb and beef dishes over the next 3+ years. A blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from ‘Figline Valdarno’, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged just over 12 months in seasoned 2,000 L oak casks. Winemaker: Frano Bernabei. 17.5-/20 Aug 2017 RRP $30.00
