Even ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh with light, up-front aromas of aromatic dark-red cherry and raspberry fruit along with dark red floral and herbal notes, unfolding jammy, whole berry fermentation and raspberry liqueur elements with aeration. Medium-bodied, the flavours of red cherries and raspberries are light and up-front and show with juiciness. The mouthfeel is softly textured with light tannin extraction, and integrated acidity, allowing the fruit sweetness to feature. The wine flows easily, the fruit receding, leading to a light finish. This is a light, up-front juicy fruited Pinot Noir with some herbal notes and smooth texture. Serve with antipasto, tapas and poultry over the next 2-3 years. Pinot Noir fruit, 55% from a site close to the Awatere Valley, the remainder from the Wairau Valley, fermented to 13.0% alc., most of the wine aged 8 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. 16.0+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
