60% clone 5, 30% 115 and 10% 777 from the southern Wairau Valley, fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine spending 13-20 days on skins, aged in 20% new French oak barrels. Light ruby-red colour with purple hues on edge. The bouquet is light and fresh with aromas of dark cherry fruit, lifted with violet and herb notes and a touch of reduction. Medium-bodied, soft dark cherry fruits with florals and herbs show with bright acidity and freshness. The palate is light and lively with a soft tannin textures from restrained extraction, enabling accessibility. The fruit is up-front and carries to a moderately long finish with cherry fruit nuances. This is a fresh and uncomplicated Pinot Noir to enjoy with antipasto, firm flesh fish and poultry over the next 3+ years. 16.5/20 Sep 2012 RRP $25.00
