Renato Nelson Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 20-Apr-2015
Moderately deep garnet-red colour, lighter on rim. The nose is gentle with soft aromas of strawberry fruit entwined with subtle herbal notes. Subtle savoury earthy and game-like notes unfold along with nutty oak and a little floral lift, providing interest. Medium-bodied, soft and light strawberry and herbal fruit flavours are harmoniously melded and form a smooth-flowing palate. The fruit is underscored by supple tannin textures and slightly elevated acidity contributes energy and slipperiness to the mouthfeel. The wine leads to a light, refreshing finish with some fruit sweetness. This is a soft, light and gentle Pinot Noir with strawberry and herb flavours and a supple, but lively mouthfeel. Serve with tapas and antipasto over the next 3 years. 65% clone 777 and 35% clone 115, hand-picked and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 15.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $24.90
