Renato Nelson Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 20-Apr-2015
Hand-picked Mission clone fruit, WBP and tank-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 7.5 g/L RS, the wine given extended lees contact. Bright, light straw-yellow colour, paler on rim. This has a tightly concentrated nose with deep aromas of white and yellow stonefruits intermingling with savoury apple, nutty lees and mouthwatering minerally notes. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, restrained flavours of white and yellow stonefruits show with mineral, stonefruit kernel and apple notes. This has plenty of presence. The mouthfeel is harmonious in flow with lacy underlying acidity and a soft-textured guiding core and line. The palate carries with good freshness to a clean, light, lingering finish of stonefruits and nuts. This is a harmonious, dryish Pinot Gris with good body and line, and restrained stonefruit flavours. Match with poultry, pork and veal over the next 4 years. 17.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $19.90
