Redmetal Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2012

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-May-2013
MS clone Syrah from vines top-grafted in 2008, fully destemmed and fermented with whole berries to 12.5% alc., the wine spending 2 weeks on skins and aged in 85% French and 15% American oak, of which 25% was new. Full, dark, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a fresh, light and aromatically lifted bouquet of white pepper, dark red florals, red berry fruits and subtly expressed fresh herbs. Light-medium bodied, flavours of white pepper, herb-infused red berry fruits, red florals and spices are enlivened by zesty, prominent acidity. The mouthfeel is energetic and brisk, with a fine, grainy, textural line in support. The flavours blossom with oak, spices and herbs featuring on a racy, mouthwatering finish. This is a light and aromatic, cool-climate Syrah with white pepper and spiced herb and oak flavours carried by acidity. Serve with poultry, pork and Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. 16.0+/20 May 2013 RRP $19.00
