Redmetal Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Mar-2011
Chardonnay was introduced into the Redmetal portfolio with the 2007 vintage after strong demand by followers for a white to pair with the Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend. Soft straw-yellow in colour with a youthful, pale edge, this has a full nose with gently expressed yellow stonefruit and tropical fruit aromas, along with a little oak nuttiness. Medium-weighted, this has fresh, uncomplicated light stonefruit and melon flavours on a soft, balanced palate. Some warmth and body from the alcohol, and some nutty, mealy nuances add interest. Made from fruit from the Triangle region fermented to 13.0% alc. and an imperceptible 4.4 g/L rs, the wine was given subtle oaking. A good all-purpose dry white to drink over the next 3-4 years. 16.5/20 Mar 2011 RRP $15.00
