Redmetal Bridge Pa Triangle Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet Franc 2016

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Jun-2018
Dark, black-hued ruby-red colour with a deep heart, a little lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. This has a deeply concentrated and well-packed nose with a core of ripe blackberry and black plum fruit along with fragrant red berry fruits and dark-red florals, unfolding suggestions of dark herbs and earth. This has good depth and intensity. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fine in proportion with a sweetly ripe, juicy heart of ripe black plum and black berried fruits harmoniously entwined with floral and herbal detail. The fruitiness is enhanced by fresh, lacy, balancing acidity and supported by light tannin extraction. This has good linearity and carries to an elegant, lingering, sweet-fruited finish. This is an elegant, juicy and sweet-fruited Merlot-based wine with dark-red and black plum and berried fruits, with hints of herbs and florals and a little earthiness on a smooth, supple palate. Match with barbecued and grilled red meats over the next 3-4 years. A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, fermented to 13.5% alc., a portion of the wine aged in oak barrels. 17.5+/20 Jun 2018 RRP $22.00
