Red Deer Marlborough Sounds Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-May-2014
Bright, light golden-straw colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full with deep aromas of citrus and white stonefruits, along with minerals, toasty and nutty oak, and subtle butterscotch MLF nuances, the bouquet revealing considerable interest. Medium-full bodied, tightly concentrated flavours of citrus fruits and chalky minerals form a firm core with good linearity. Crisp acidity enlivens the fruit with lifted luscious elements. The palate is underlined by fine phenolic textures which balances the fruit and carries the flavours to a dry, lingering finish with nutty, chalky mineral notes. This is a tightly concentrated, dry Chardonnay with citrussy fruit, oak and chalky textures. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 4 years. Fruit from ‘Waitaria Estate’, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine aged in 15% new French oak, undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. 17.0+/20 May 2014 RRP $24.00
