Red Deer Marlborough Sounds Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Jan-2013
Brilliant, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on rim. The nose is elegantly proportioned with a tightly concentrated core of citrus fruit intermixed with white florals and stonefruits, cream and butterscotch-like diacetyl from the MLF. Medium-bodied, the palate features integrated flavours of citrus fruits and buttery MLF, and soft, creamy textures. Some oak spiciness unfolds with nutty elements. Soft, but fresh, bright acidity underlines the fruit and carries flavours to a moderately long, softly nuanced finish. This is a fresh, youthful Chardonnay with citrus fruit, creamy textures and oak spices in good balance. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3 years. Fruit WBP and barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 15% new oak on lees, undergoing 100% MLF. 16.5/20 Jan 2013 RRP $25.00
