Red Deer Marlborough Sounds Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Nov-2013
Bright, even, light golden-green hued yellow colour, lighter on edge. The nose is full and broad with citrus fruit aromas showing some savoury, nutty secondary complexities, harmoniously melded with soft toasty oak, flinty lees and buttery MLF notes. Medium-bodied, the palate features a tight core that opens out with flowing and mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits and plenty of oak toastiness. Layers of nuts, MLF and flint unfold and blossom, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by piquant, tingling acidity that carries through to a rich, lively finish. This medium-bodied Chardonnay has developed breadth with harmonious layers of citrussy fruit and toasty oak. Drink over the next 18 months to 2 years with grilled seafood, poultry and pork. Fruit WBP and barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 15% new oak on lees, undergoing 100% MLF. 17.0+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $22.00 Fruit WBP and barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 15% new oak on lees, undergoing 100% MLF. Bright, even straw-yellow colour with a slight golden hue, lighter on edge. The nose is softly full and voluminous with light aromas of yellow stonefruits and harmoniously integrated nuanced of oak and buttery MLF, revealing some savoury, secondary notes. Medium-full bodied, this is softly textured and smooth flowing with an amalgam of savoury citrus fruits, nuts and oak. The flavours are restrained in expression, but underlined by good alcohol drive and balanced acidity which carries through to a light, moderately sustained finish with buttery nuances. This is a light-flavoured Chardonnay with good harmony and balance. Match with poultry and serve with first courses over the next 2+ years. 16.0-/20 Jan 2013 RRP $25.00
