Real Compania de Vinos VdT Castilla Tempranillo ‘Aged in Oak Barrels’ 2012

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 24-Nov-2015
Full, very dark, even, black-hued purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is elegantly presented with well-packed aromas of dark red berry fruits along with some savoury earth and game layer and subtle notes of dried herbs. Milk chocolate and spicy, cedary oak elements emerge to add interest. Medium-bodied, the palate features gently luscious and juicy flavours of red berry fruit melded with cedar, earth and game nuances, along with some herbal notes. The palate carries light, grainy tannins and soft acidity, lending a degree of linearity. The win os soft and integrated and carries to a light, lingering, savoury finish. This is an elegant, juicy Tempranillo with red fruit, cedar, herb and earthy detail and a light-textured palate. Match with pasta, poultry and barbecued meats over the next 3+ years. 100% Tempranillo from 30-70 y.o. vines fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months in American oak. 16.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $23.00
