Brilliant, pale straw-yellow with slight green hues, pale on edge. The nose is very fine, tightly bound and with intensity of gooseberry fruit intermingling with flinty lees complexities. Dry to taste, the flavours of gooseberries, herbs and flinty minerals are subtle in expression. While fresh with good tension, the textures are softly mouthfilling, the acidity restrained, allowing the flinty lees complexities become prominent and carry through to a softly, gentle, minerally finish. Fruit from the Lower Wairau, Waihopi, Awatere and Rapaura sub-regions blended for a balanced Marlborough style. Cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 3.7 g/L rs. This gentle, minerally-flavoured and soft-textured Sauvignon Blanc is reminiscent of the wines of Sancerre. Match with seafood and cheeses over the next 2-3 years. 17.5+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $22.99
