Rapaura Springs ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Aug-2012
Bright lemon straw-yellow colour with green hues, lighter on rim. This has a fresh, steely nose of citrus fruit with hints of tropical fruits, along with butter and flinty lees elements emerging in glass. Dry, medium-bodied and crisp, tight stonefruit and citrus fruit flavours show with clarity and freshness. This has good depth and body, the flavours with linear drive and without complication. The acidity provides cut and drive, providing good tension. Some delicate mealy and minerally nuances show, adding subtle interest to the flavours, and the wine finishes dry and with moderate length. This is a dry, crisp, fruit-driven, steely Chardonnay to match with shellfish over the next 2-3+ years. Fruit from a single site on Dog Point Road, 70% stainless-steel and 30% barrel-fermented in 2-3 y.o. oak to 13.5% alc. The barrel portion aged 11 months with batonnage and 30% undergoing partial MLF. 650 cases made. 16.5+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $20.99
