Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Sep-2022
Deep ruby-red, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full and herbaceous, with aromas of thyme and tea leaf entwined with blackberry, strawberry and sweet floral. Medium-bodied, nuances of blackberry and strawberry intermixed thyme, tea leaf, earth and a suggestion of liquorice root. The red and black fruit shows elegance and purity, herbaceous details enrich alongside earthy nuance. The mouthfeel is silky with delicate, supple tannins; lacy acidity lightens up the broody herbaceous elements. This elegant, pretty Pinot Noir shows lovely fruit and herb with depth and a fine-textured mouthfeel. Match with lamb and duck over the next 5+ years. Handpicked, cold-soaked for 5 days, fermented with a small portion of whole bunches to 13.5% alc, aged 10 months in French oak, 12% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $36.90
