Rapaura Springs Reserve Pinot Noir 2019, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Oct-2020
Deep, ruby-purple with a black hue, lighter on edge. The nose is gently-full, deep aromas of dark cherry-plums, melded with savoury earth, herb and spice elements. Medium-full bodied, nuances of cherries, raspberries and dark plums has good tension, savoury earthiness follows, along with an amalgam of spices and a hint of dark herbs. The fruit sweetness enlivened by lively acidity flows along a softly extracted tannins palate unfolding earth and herbs. Soft tannin palate fuse subtle spices, lending a rounded finish with acid crispness. This is a cherry-plum-fruited Pinot Noir with some dark herbs and earth details on a soft tannin palate with soft extraction. Match with wild game duck and boar over the next 3 years. Fruit from Southern Valley, Kaituna and Ward sub-regions. Fermented to 13% alc, aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, 20% new oak. 17.5/20 pts Oct 2020 RRP $18.99
