Second crop fruit from a Rapaura vineyard, fully barrel-fermented in seasoned oak to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 10 months on lees with batonnage. Bright, pale straw colour with green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is elegant with tightly bound aromas of citrus and tropical fruits infused with spicy oak. The nose has a steely freshness that builds in intensity. Dry to taste, citrus and tropical fruit combine with barrel-ferment nutty notes to form a fight and focussed core. The barrel-ferment creamy textures are countered by racy acidity and some fine, phenolic textures. This has good linearity which carries the flavours to a very long, well-concentrated finish. This is a tightly focussed, textural Verdelho with racy citrussy fruit and barrel-ferment oak spices.
