Rapaura Springs ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Sep-2018
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, a little paler on the rim. The nose is taut, sleek and refined in expression with subtly interwoven aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with nuances of fragrant florals and lifted pears, and a delicate layering of savoury nutty elements. The aromatics show freshness, good intensity and penetration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated and well-proportioned with a fine core and line of tightly bound stonefruit, tropical fruit and floral flavours, with pear and honeysuckle detail and subtle nutty detail, The palate has plenty of energy and drive, and the wine carries along a very fine-textured line with fresh background acidity, leading to a long, lingering finish. This is a refine but intense and concentrated dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit, floral and pear flavours along with nutty detail on a sleek, fine-textured palate with drive. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese fare over the next 3 years. Marlborough fruit, 90% from Blind River in the Awatere Valley and 10% from Taylors Pass, Southern Valley, fermented in tank with the Taylors Pass portion hand-picked, WBB and barrel-fermented in seasoned oak, warm with high solids, to 13.5% alc., and 6.1 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 18.5+/20 Sep 2018 RRP $18.99
