Rapaura Springs ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Aug-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, paler on the rim. The nose is firmly concentrated and tightly bound with exotic aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, along with rose-petal florals and nuances of spice with musk and nutty notes at the core. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of white and yellow stonefruits, and exotic rose-petal florals are lifted and aromatic, and are enhanced by spicy elements. The fruit is gently rich and concentrated and flows along a fine-textured phenolic thread with integrated acidity. The palate has real presence and underlying alcoholic power provides drive, carrying the wine to a lingering finish of florals and honeysuckle. This is an aromatic and exotic off-dry Pinot Gris with gently rich and concentrated flavours with good drive and power. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Awatere, Brancott and Taylors Pass, fermented in stainless-steel with 4% in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 5.3 g/L RS. 18.5-/20 Aug 2016 RRP $22.00
