Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Dec-2021
Bright, pale yellow with some depth, even colour throughout. The wine has an elegantly expressive bouquet, filling the glass with almond, pastry melded with delicate spices, citrus and stonefruit. Medium-bodied, the wine is elegantly presented, aromas of lemon sherbet, lemon curd and white peach lengthened by spices, unfolding well-proportioned almond and pastry details. The fruit has concentration, supported by a lively acid tension. Very fine-textured phenolics added a silky veil to the mouthfeel. This is an attractive Chardonnay with flavours of lemon sherbet and white peach, elegant barrel details and a poise structured flow. Match with blue cod & beurre blanc and chicken ballotine over the next 5+ years. Fruit from predominately the Southern Valleys, fermented in 25% new oak, 13.5% alc, MLF. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Dec 2021 RRP $18.99
