Rapaura Springs ‘Reserve’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 11-Sep-2013
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with light purple hues on rim. The bouquet is soft and deeply packed with dark red berry and cherry fruit aromas complexed by dark herbs, liquorice, subtle oak spices and a violet floral lift. Medium-full bodied, the fruit is a somewhat restrained, but showing well-concentrated flavours of ripe dark berry fruit with a spicy herb amalgam. The mouthfeel is harmoniously integrated with soft grainy textures providing a good backbone and soft acidity lending a roundness. The gentle, rich flavours are carried smoothly to a sustained finish with soft, sweet plum and violet notes. This is a softly full and concentrated Pinot Noir with a subtly rich, harmonious mouthfeel. Match with rabbit, duck and pork dishes over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from Bannockburn fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in new and 1 y.o. French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $28.99
