Rapaura Springs Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Aug-2016
Pale straw-yellow with a slight blush, lighter on edge. This has an elegantly presented and tightly bound nose with an aromatic core of white and yellow stonefruits lifted by exotic florals and honeysuckle, with suggestions of mineral elements. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, up-front flavours of aromatic white and yellow stonefruits are enhanced by honeysuckle and rose-petal florals forming a good heart with breadth and depth. The wine follows a fine-textured phenolic line with a little grip and alcohol drive, and integrated acidity lends softness. The wine has linearity, carrying to a lingering finish with exotic fruit and floral elements. Tightly bound on the nose, this medium-dry Pinot Gris has up-front aromatic stonefruit and exotic floral notes and a palate wine drive and line. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3 years. 97% of the fruit from the Blind River district in the Awatere, the remainder from Brancott and Omaka, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 9.1 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $18.99
