Rapaura Springs Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jul-2014
Bright straw-yellow with a suggestion of blush, and pale green hues on rim. The nose is moderately full with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits forming a soft core, along with lifted pear and honeysuckle notes and fresh fermentation esters. The nose has purity if expression with a steely freshness. Off-dry to taste and medium-light bodied, soft and mellow flavours of pears and honesuckle are the feature on palate. Fresh fermentation esters lift the fruit aromatics The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing and has a near-unctuous texture, and the palate has good underlying power and drive, leading to a dry finish. This is a soft, smooth and aromatic off-dry Pinot Gris. Match with mildly spicy Asian fare over the next 3 years. Marlborough fruit fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 8.5 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.0-/20 Jul 2014 RRP $16.99
