Rapaura Springs Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Aug-2012
Bright, very pale straw colour with green hues. Vibrantly fresh, light aromas of pears and white stonefruits show with mineral hints and some lifted fermentation esters. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, lively fruit flavours of pears, stonefruits and white florals are enhanced by brisk, racy acidity. Subtly building richness and the residual sugar balance the acidity, providing a soft, smooth mouthfeel and flow with very fine textures that lead to a sustained, delicately flavoured finish. This is a bright and elegantly balanced Pinot Gris that is racy and subtly flavoured. Match with mild Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from two sites in the Upper Wairau, stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. and 9 g/L rs, the wine given no batonnage. 1,000 cases made. 17.5+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $19.99
