Rapaura Springs Marlborough Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jul-2014
Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is light and fresh with moderately deep, straightforward white stonefruit aromas and hints of tropical fruits and herbs, lifted by fresh fermentation esters. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, light flavours of stonefruits and tropical fruits follow a textured palate line. Some esters lift adds to the aromatic character. The mouthfeel is rounded, but enlivened by bright acidity, which along with the phenolics, carry the wine to a light, lingering finish of citrus and stonefruit notes. This is a fresh, up-front, uncomplicated and youthfully aromatic Chardonnay. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3 years. Fruit from two sites in the Wairau Valley, fermented to 13.0% alc. and 3.1 g/L RS, the wine given French oaking and batonnage, with no MLF. 16.5/20 Jul 2014 RRP $16.99
