Rapaura Springs ‘Limited Release’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Apr-2012
Fruit from the Rapaura sub-region, fully barrel-fermented in seasoned French barriques to 13.0% alc. amd 3.5 g/L rs, the wine spending 18 months in oak with regular batonnage and undergoing MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with light lemon-gold hues. Softly rich and full on bouquet, this shows ripe gooseberry fruit aromas interwoven with tropical fruits with notes of spice, smoky oak and nuts, as well as secondary bean and earthy-mineral complexities. Dry and medium-bodied, complex layers of flavour showing ripe nectarines, herbs and oak toast are wonderfully integrated and blossom. This has rich, smooth near-creamy textures from the barrel-ferment and lees work, balanced by good, bright acidity. The wine has a long and sustained mellow finish with secondary earth, herb and smoky notes. This oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc has come together with harmony and interest, and is beginning to drink very well now. Serve with roasted and grilled seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. 18.5/20 Apr 2012 RRP $32.95
