Rapaura Springs ‘Limited Release’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Aug-2012
Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is very full and intense with concentrated aromas of ripe citrus fruits, nectarines, mealy, nutty elements, with spices and butter forming a complex amalgam. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated flavours of citrus and stonefruits are intermixed with biscuit mealy notes and creamy barrel-ferment characters. This is rounded and mouthfilling, with flowing, fine textures on mid-palate, and subtle waves of fruit and nutty oak. The MLF component is harmonious and unobtrusive, adding a layer of interest, while the acidity is discreet, enhancing the depth of flavour. Ripe fruit and nutty, toast flavours carry through to a long finish. This is a rich and concentrated Chardonnay with complex citrus and creamy flavours. Serve with grilled and roasted poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the Dog Point area, fully barrel-fermented, 50% with indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 60% new French oak barriques with batonnage, all of the wine undergoing partial MLF. 18.5-/20 Aug 2012 RRP $34.99
