Rapaura Springs Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2010

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 04-Apr-2012
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, the nose is full with aromatic dark plum fruits, lifted with dark red floral and whole berry-like notes along with hints of tobacco and herbs The bouquet is up-front and quite primary in expression. Medium-bodied, soft, plump, juicy flavours of red plums with florals fill the palate. The wine is soft and smooth in texture and modestly extracted allowing the fruit sweetness feature. Good acid freshness enhances the brightness of the fruit and the flavours flow evenly through to a crisp, refreshing and dry finish with a little tannin grip. This is an uncomplicated and easy Merlot that is very approachable. Serve with pasta and pizza over the next 3 years. 100% Merlot from the ‘Redmetal Triangle' region of Hawke's Bay, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.0% alc. 16.5+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $17.99
