Rapaura Springs Bouldevines Vineyard Chardonnay 2019, Marlborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Aug-2021
Brilliant, light yellow with a hint of green, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly full, penetrating aromas of brown butter, struck-match, roasted nuts, barrel fermentation details, underlying citrus and stonefruit aromas. Full-bodied, aromas of stonefruit, grapefruit, lemon zest are well-portioned, melded with brown butter, roasted hazelnuts, and spicy oak elements. The flavours have good intensity and are well-proportioned; citrus zest and oak spices lifted the palate and added interest. The mouthfeel is delicately creamy and chalky, support by lacy acidity, linger to linearity. This is an elegantly crafted Chardonnay with a refined texture and barrel fermentation details. Match with pistachio-crusted cod and lemon risotto over the next 5-7 years. The fruit was handpicked from Omaka Valley, whole bunch pressed, wild-fermented in older and new barrels (47% new oak), and aged 10 months. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2021 RRP $36.90
