Bright, pale yellow with some depth and a slight gold hue, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full and elegantly presented; pastry, citrus, mineral, and barrel flint nuances slowly growing, white spices lifted. Medium-full bodied, brilliant intensity, aromas of citrus, pineapple, peaches have a taut core, adorned by brioche and delicate barrel spices. The acid tension flow with great energy, chalky minerals filled the side of the palate, linger to linearity. The wine has intensity, elegant palate weight and posied acid structure provide the potential for ageing development. Match with roasted pheasant and crayfish over the next 6-8 years. Old vine Mendoza clone was sourced from Mangatahi vineyard and Bridge Pa Triangle, clone 548 was sourced from Dartmoor Valley. Handpicked, hand-sorted, whole bunch pressed, fermented in new and 1-year-old French oak barriques, regular lees stirred post-fermentation, aged on lees for 10 months, full MLF. 13.5% alc. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) May 2021 RRP $85
