Quinta do Correio Dao 2009

Blended Red from Portugal
Review Date : 09-Dec-2012
Very dark ruby-red colour with a black heart. The nose is firm and deep, near robust, but rounded and showing sweetly ripe dark berry and black fruit aromas along with a little meaty, gamey component. Medium-full bodied, sweet fruited flavours of ripe dark berry fruits intermingle with dark earth and savoury herbal notes. Iron-earth and a little brettanomyces show at the core. The fruitiness is supported by broad, soft tannins that recede, leading to an elegant and dry finish. This is a fruity and dark-fruited wine with earthy, gamey flavours. Match with pastas, barbecued and grilled red meats over the next 4-5 years. A blend of Jaen, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz, fermented to 13.0% alc. 16.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $19.90
