Quinta das Maias Dao 2009

Blended Red from Portugal
Review Date : 12-Dec-2012
Dark, black-red colour with some purple hues. This has a very firm, tightly concentrated nose with youthfully expressed, ripe black fruits with notes of iron, graphite and minerals, unfolding some floral nuances and dark herb elements. Medium-full bodied, this has concentrated and intense flavours of ripe black berry fruits and minerals. This has purity and power, the fruit supported by sleek, refined tannins of some substance. The acidity is lacy and near slippery, enhancing the smooth palate flow and line. This has excellent elegant proportions that carry through to a long finish. This is a classically proportioned red with fine structure and the concentration to develop with style over the next 8-10 years. A blend of Jaen, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz fermented to 13.5% alc., aged 9 months in new oak. 18.5/20 Dec 2012 RRP $27.50
