Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 31-Aug-2022
Deep ruby-red, bright, lighter on the rim. This has a full, alluring bouquet filled the glass with violet, black tea, interweaved blackberry, black cherry, and underlying dusty spices. Medium-bodied, aromas of blackberry and cherry form a firm core, unfolding cinnamon, pepper dusting, violet and black tea fragrance. The fruit is broody and growing in concentration; fine-grained, silky tannins provide a fine frame and texture. Floral elements and spices lifted and lent a long, enticing finish. This dark-fruited Pinot Noir shows the depth of fruit and spice on a silky smooth mouthfeel. Match with lamb rack and truffle risotto over the next 5-8 years. Handpicked from Estate vineyard in Bendigo, fermented in small batches with a small percentage of whole clusters, cold-soaked for up to 7 days, indigenous yeast fermented to 14% alc, post maceration, total time on skins 21-26 days. Aged 12 months in French oak barriques, 26% new oak. Underwent wild MLF. Organic certified. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $55
