Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on rim. This has a very fresh and lifted bouquet of exotic florals, tropical fruits, pineapple confectionary and citrus fruits, revealing creamy barrel-ferment layers. Dry to taste and full-bodied, the palate has a powerful structure of phenolics and alcohol encasing tightly packed flavours of exotic fruits, pineapple, apricots and oranges. The fruit blossoms in sweetness and aromatic lift, with fresh, underlying acidity adding to the brightness and vibrancy. The mouthfeel juxtaposes freshness with power and richness and the palate is carried to a strong, sweet-fruited, textural finish. This is an exotic, luscious Viognier with plenty of phenolic structure and power. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from Maraekakaho, basket pressed and indigenous yeast fermented with full solids in puncheon and tank at warm temperatures to 14.5% alc. and dryness, the wine aged 10 months on lees with batonnage. 18.5/20 Apr 2014 RRP $35.00
