Quarisa ‘Caravan’ South Eastern Australia Petite Sirah 2015

Other Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 17-Oct-2016
Full, dark, deep, near impenetrable purple-hued black-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a very full and softly voluminous, gently packed nose with aromas of fully-ripened blackberry fruit melded with black plums and boysenberries, unfolding dark raspberry and blackberry liqueur notes, along with spice and oak toast. Full-bodied, plush, succulent and well-ripened, sweet flavours of blackberries, boysenberries plums and hints of raisins are entwined with liquorice, Asian spices and toasty oak. The palate is opulent and lush, and the fruit is supported by fine-grained background tannin structure which allows the fruit to feature. The wine carries smoothly to a soft, fine-textured, long and sustained finish of boysenberries and liquorice. This is a rich, sweet-fruited Petite Sirah in the riper spectrum with blackberry, plum and boysenberry flavours entwined with liquorice and spices on a soft, fine-textured palate. Match with slow-cooked game dishes and casseroles over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from South Eastern Australia, fermented to 14.71% alc., the wine given oak contact. 18.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $20.00
