Quarisa ‘Caravan’ South Eastern Australia Petite Sirah 2013

Other Red from Australia - Other
Review Date : 29-Jun-2014
Very full, saturated black-hued purple-red colour. The nose is intensely concentrated with deep aromas of ripe black fruits, quite primary in expression, along with dark raspberries, spices, pepper and cedar. There is a degree of finesse to the bouquet, without any excess. Full-bodied, soft, rounded and densely packed flavours of ripe black berried fruit intermingle with iron-earth notes, subtle spices and peppery elements. Raspberry and jam flavours unfold through the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is soft and the acidity is a little low, contributing to fulsome breadth, but fine-grained tannin structure and backbone supports the palate. As the wine flows, the extraction becomes more apparent and the wine finishes with a dry, textural finish with raspberry flavours. Petite Sirah fermented partially in barrel to 14.54% alc., and aged in oak. Serve with Middle Eastern fare, and with slow-cooked game meat over the next 4-6 years. 17.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $18.99
