Q Waitaki Valley Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 21-Jan-2015
Bright, light strawberry pink colour, paler on rim. The nose is fresh with bright fruit aromas of strawberries and cranberries with subtle underlying fresh herb and mouthwatering mineral notes, unfolding some fruit pastille confectionary elements. Dryish to taste, refreshing flavours of strawberries and cranberries show with some richness and lusciousness. Red floral elements and confectionary nuances lift the aromatics. The mouthfeel is crisp and racy, the acidity enlivening the fruit. The palate has a degree of unctuousness, well balanced by the thirst-quenching acid, and the palate follows a very fine, textural thread, leading to a juicy finish. This is a refreshing dryish rosé with lush strawberry, cranberry and confectionary lift. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years. A Pinot Noir saigneé rosé, clones 5 and Abel, fermented in French oak barriques to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 3 months in barrel. 18.0-/20 Jan 2015 RRP $32.50
